Sound Department
The Sound Department is responsible for recording, re-recording, dubbing, synchronizing and scoring of sound on set or on location for production and in post-production.

A combination of demonstrated skills such as excellent aural skills, computer skills and a familiarity with a wide variety of professional audio equipment. Knowledge of all types of dialogue microphones, acoustics and sound editing and audio production training are an asset.
+ Production Sound Mixer
The Production Sound Mixer is responsible for recording, re-recording, dubbing, synchronizing and scoring sound for the production. They work with the Director and Production Manager to determine, rent or purchase, maintain and return the equipment for the production. They maintain log sheets, take script notes and maintain lists of wild tracks and sound effects to record later.
+ Boom Operator
The Boom Operator is responsible for the placement of microphones on set, handling the microphone boom and maintaining sound quality without being visible on camera. Tasks include setting up and wrapping sound equipment, working with the Costume Department to place radio microphones and transmitters on performers and being present for blocking and rehearsals.
+ Playback Operator/2nd Boom Operator
The Playback Operator/Second Boom Operator is responsible for cueing, playing and mixing pre-recorded sound elements on set for performers to react to in real time, while also supplying an audio feed and time code feed to the Production Sound Mixer. The Playback Operator/Second Boom Operator assists the Boom Operator.
+ Sound Assistant/ Cableperson
The Sound Assistant/ Cableperson places radio microphones and transmitters on performers, assists the boom operator, keeps cables clear and works with the Driver Captain to move equipment.
